Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to dissect the contemporary social problems in Turkey in line with 'the history of the present" in a Foucauldian sense. Various identities and instutions which are effective on the socio-historical formation of Turkey are studied in the form of a work-shop.

Course Content

The structural characteristics of Turkish society. Social, cultural and economic bases of Turkey’s social problems. Social problems in terms of the relations between individual and society. Transformation of social problems in time and space. Different approaches to social problems and solutions.
