Course ContentThis course will focus on the strategies by which demarcations between self and other and corollary distinctions between First World-Third World, West-East and masculine-feminine are deployed in various cultural and political discourses. The emergent and contested dimensions of modern, gendered, national and cultural identities will be examined through post-colonial theorists such as Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, Homi Bhabha, Edward Said, Frantz Fanon.
