Course ContentThis course focuses on patterns of collective identity, solidarity and conflict based on such ascriptive factors as descent, language, customs and belief systems and examines how communal fragmentation coexist with the emerging class formations in the Middle East. Comparative analysis will be used to identify political cleavages within as well as among communal groups in this particular region.
