Course ContentIn the last decade or so, the label “cultural studies” has become one of the widely used terms. This course offers a critical exploration of the current literature in the emerging field of Cultural Studies. We will map out and trace some of the issues, concepts and subjects that have come to define the field of cultural studies and those that are mostly likely to influence where it is heading towards, such as identity, otherness, subalternity, representation, transnationalism, postmodernism, orientalism, multiculturalism, nationalism and deconstruction such as. Our aim will not be to search definitive answer to the convoluted social and cultural issues, but regard this course as a chance to grapple with the intricacies of social, cultural life and theory.
